Those About to Die

I worked as a tool developer for a Crowd Manager System used in the Colosseum scenes. My role involved designing and implementing a tool to optimize and enhance the crowd system, ensuring it meets the creative and technical needs of the production. Additionally, I collaborate closely with artists to support set dressing by assisting with asset management and placement on this show.

About the Show

Those About to Die is a gladiatorial episodic starring Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins, developed by Robert Rodat, and directed by Roland Emmerich and Marco Kreuzpaintner. The show was made using a mix of on-location shooting and a virtual production setup co-curated by Dimension and DNEG 360 at Cinecittà Studios, Italy. The setup features a 24-metre revolving stage and an 8-metre tall, 51-metre U-shaped LED volume. Our team delivered 1,800 final pixel shots.
